Malaysia and Thailand’s takraw rivalry set to hit fever pitch in Aichi-Nagoya

Discontent: Thailand’s takraw team refuse to continue playing in the third match of the World Cup team regu final, claiming they were victims of biased refereeing. — Bernama

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s sepaktakraw rivalry with Thailand will come to a boil when they clash at the upcoming Thai King’s Cup from Aug 3-11 and more importantly, the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September.

Thailand enjoyed near-total domination in the sport for almost three decades but have since last year lost to Malaysia in every major final they have played, including a painful loss in the team regu final at the Thailand SEA Games last December.
