Dream debut for Rono as Kenyans rule 10km events at KLSCM


Ahead of the rest: Japhet Rono breasting the tape to win the men’s 10km run at the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon.

PETALING JAYA: Kenyan runners kicked off the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2024 by winning the 10km category for both the men’s and women’s events at the iconic Dataran Merdeka yesterday.

Debutant Japhet Rono took the men’s title in 33 minutes and 14 seconds, ahead of two Malaysians Daren James Nair (33:23) and B. Ruveshwaran (33:56).
