The popular RTM icon Zulkarnain passes away


PETALING JAYA: Zulkarnain Hassan (pic), one of the pioneers in radio sports commentating, has passed away.

The 82-year-old veteran commentator and producer with the Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) died at the hospital due to a heart ailment yesterday. He leaves behind wife Sabariah Ibrahim and children Zurina Zulkarnain and Azmi Rizal Zulkarnain.



Zulkarnain was one of the first batches of young talents to report for duty at RTM as an announcer with Radio Malaya in 1959. He was the head of the sports division with RTM radio before he retired in 1993.
