PETALING JAYA: Top international sailors from 14 countries will put their navigational skills to the test when the 26th edition of the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR) sails off Saturday.

A total of 34 boats will be vying for top honours in the 420km race, which will see the vessels sailing from Port Klang to checkpoints in Pangkor, Penang and Langkawi.

RMSIR 2015 committee chairman Jeff Harris said there will be several new faces this year, including two all-Malaysian teams – Ulumulu from Miri and Uranus from the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).

“The Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is an exciting event with unpredictable winds, weather and tide conditions to provide even the most experienced sailors with an interesting challenge. We also welcome on board Finnish watch brand Suunto as an additional sponsor this year,” said Harris.

This year’s race, which is again under the patronage of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, is organised by the Royal Selangor Yacht Club in association with the Royal Ocean Racing Club.
