Akid out to arrest dip in performance after first spot in qualifying

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Akid Aziz of ONEXOX TKKR Racing Team was fastest in the qualifying session of Round 8 of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship for the CP150 category at Tangkak, Johor.

With three more rounds to go before the season ends, Akid continued to show his maneuvering techniques and ability to utilise the right skills to be the fastest rider yesterday with a time of 43:079.

Akid, who sits at seventh spot overall with a total of 55 points, has taken the podium once at third spot this season.

But that pales in comparison to last season, where he made it to the third spot overall with six podiums, including one win.

It has been a challenging year due to his dip in performance but Akid intends to persevere.

“Today’s qualifying session has been a good one for me. I did the fastest time with the right set-up on my machine. I was comfortable with the machine and that gave me the confidence,” said Akid.

“Tomorrow will definitely be a challenging and highly competitive race but I will do my best in the Super-Pole and race.”

Coming in second fastest was Mohd Aiman Tahiruddin of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing, logging in at 43:117 while Mohd Haziq Fairues of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor was third at 43:268.
