Akid goes all out to clock fastest lap despite securing overall title

PETALING JAYA: Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing rider Mohd Akid Aziz may have wrapped up the CP150 overall title a week ago but he is not taking things easy in Batu Kawan, Penang.

The two-time champion set the fastest lap in the CP150 qualifying session in the final round of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix Championship yesterday.

Akid clocked 50.951s, signalling his strong desire to secure another victory for his team.

Azroy Hakeem Anuar from Honda Estremo Yuzy Racing finished second with the fastest time of 51.114s, sending an early warning with his mission to secure third place in the overall standings.

Teammate Ahmad Afif Amran finished third with a time of 51.207s.

"Even though I’ve already secured the overall championship, our team will still give our best and I will also give my best performance because that is our responsibility as riders.

"I will never make it easy for anyone in this race. Whatever the competition, I will always give my best," said Akid.

In the CP125 qualifying session, Arash Tsunami Kamarudin from Yamaha Tekhne Ahm Motor Sports posted the fastest time of 53.935s.

Danial Johan from Onexox TKKR Racing Team was second fastest in 54.231s.
