PETALING JAYA: Putera Adam Halim wants to shift his focus to touring car racing after conquering the Malaysia Karting Championship (MKC) scene.
The 16-year-old won the seventh and final round of the MKC at the Sepang International Karting Circuit recently to emerge as the overall champion in the senior category.
Putera finished the season with 522 points ahead of second placed Muizzuddin Musyaffa (497) and Raja Ariff Raja Azmi (451).
“I took part in several touring car races last year. I also raced in the rookie category of the Toyota Gazoo series last year. There were six races and at first, it was a bit tough for me to adapt as they ran manual gearboxes,” he said.
“It was a struggle initially but I got more comfortable as the season went on and we were able to win the final two races.
“I had also finished second in both the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) and the Sepang 1000 kilometres (S1K), so I will focus more on touring car racing after I achieved this goal to be national karting champion.”
