THE annual Malaysia Tourism Golf Tournament will return for its third edition and include this year, a visit to Johor.

The first two rounds will be held on April 27 and 28, bringing together corporate leaders, international golfers and tourism stakeholders at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The inaugural Johor rounds will be set in August or September, at a golf course yet to be determined.

The event was officially launched by Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, who said: “The Malaysia Tourism Golf Tournament perfectly showcases the country’s premier golf courses and hospitality.

“It is to be held in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY26) promotion with a national agenda, highlighting Malaysia as a top golf tourism destination for regional and international visitors.”

Now firmly established on the regional golf calendar, the tournament boasts backing from HSBC as its major sponsor.

Additional support comes from hole-in-one partners, including Bermaz Auto (Mazda), CIT, Titoni and TaylorMade.

Building on the success of its first two editions, the 2026 tournament reinforces Malaysia’s ambition to position itself as a leading golf tourism destination.

The event blends a competitive round of golf with business networking and destination promotion, aligning with national tourism initiatives led by Tourism Malaysia.

Organising chairman Datuk Richard Lee said: “This tournament is more than just a golf competition.

“It is a strategic platform to showcase Malaysia’s worldclass golf experiences while fostering regional business relationships.

“We are encouraged by the continued support from our sponsors and participants.”

Tournament secretary Thaddeus Foo said: “Each year, the tournament grows in scale and reputation, attracting golfers and partners from across the region.”
