To lead the celebration of its 100th anniversary, the company’s chief executive officer Daniel Schluep was in Kuala Lumpur, the man whose grandfather started the watch manufacturer in 1919, and whose father later took over, before he himself ascended to the helm.
Daniel Schluep, only the third patron of Titoni in all its years, stood alongside Tham Onn Chuan, founder of ATG Watch Sdn Bhd, in toasting the longevity of what has become a global brand and one that is closely associated with golf.
ATG Watch is Titoni’s partner in Malaysia and Singapore, and has been for the past 17-odd years. It was also for this reason that Schluep spoke so highly of Tham and his family business.
Indeed, Titoni Ltd itself is a family-run business that is “fully aware” of its responsibilities and challenges, Schluep exclusively told TeeUp.
Titoni has three generations of the Schluep family behind it, added Schluep, and have gone their own way for decades, pursuing long-term visions to guarantee the company’s stability and continuity.
“Being Swiss-made has always been at the core of Titoni’s creative process,” said Schluep, “Whether it be classical and fresh design through to modern technology.
“And now as we embark on a new century for the company, we do it with the focus on stability combined with Swiss precision, professionalism and a love for details. Titoni will continue to provide high quality watches and trustworthy services to all our customers, worldwide.
‘We also want to record our thanks to all our suppliers and distribution partners worldwide, after service centres and everybody else who contributed in one way or another in the development of the company
“Being successful over these 100 years was not the result of one person or a small group of people, rather it was the result of a corporation of numerous facets in a supply chain, from the competent manufacturing to through to distribution and to the retail stores. It was the result of a successful corporation to cross international boundaries and between different cultures.
“Our new series ‘Line 1919’ has been launched to commemorate Titoni’s 100th anniversary and the T10 calibre ticks at the heart of all models in this series,” said Schluep. “It is a key milestone for the company as this calibre is the company’s first ever self-developed and manufactured movement.
“The design of this latest series is inspired by purist minimalism and brings timeless elegance in line with Titoni’s future course,” said Schluep, who added that they had more than 100 service centres worldwide and a significant presence in 42 countries around the globe.
Acknowledging Titoni Ltd and the Schluep family, Tham said they (the ATG Watch family) were humbled by the trust and support received from their Swiss principal.
“All I can do is say ‘thank you’ to Daniel, his family and Titoni,” said Tham, himself a handy golfer. “The company with which we have done business with over the past 17 or so years has trusted us and in doing so also taught many lessons down the years. For this, we are truly grateful.”
