PETALING JAYA: At 23, Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili (pic) already has clubs in Malaysia and Thailand circling.
But the Terengganu defender is not going anywhere, not yet.
The player fondly known as Ubai has made it clear he intends to stay put for the coming season, believing there is still unfinished business with the team that gave him his breakthrough in professional football.
“Terengganu have definitely played a massive role in my career,” he said.
“Winning the inaugural MFL Cup in 2023 was a meaningful success, and I appreciate how they trusted young talent back then and shaped me to the level I’m at today.”

Named the MFL Cup’s Most Valuable Player at just 20, he was a revelation -composed, commanding and mature beyond his years.
“Being here has helped me immensely to become a better player,” said Ubaidullah, playing in his third season with the club.
“The guidance from senior and import players, coaches, has made me more mature on the pitch.”
Last season, Ubaidullah made 25 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal in the Super League.
Terengganu finished fifth with 36 points, a respectable but unremarkable campaign by the club’s own standards, and one Ubaidullah wants to improve on.
“I don’t want to stop here. It’s not the time yet, as there is still so much more I want to achieve with Terengganu.”
“As a defender, what I need to improve on is the leadership aspect, communicating better with my teammates on the pitch.
Ubaidullah has been part of the Harimau Malaya set-up, and he is determined to press his case through club form.
“Being with Harimau Malaya is the highest benchmark in my football career, and it serves as a huge motivation for me,” he said.
