Ubaidullah aims to extend Turtles’ solid home run in FA Cup showdown

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu defender Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili is keeping a close eye on his next fixture against Kuching in the FA Cup quarter-finals first leg this weekend.

The Turtles will be hosting Kuching at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Saturday, and Ubaidullah said the team aim to continue their three-game winning streak at home after good results in the Super League.

“The team are in good form right now and we want to maintain that going into the next match,” said Ubaidullah.

“The first leg of the quarter-finals is going to be very important for us to carry an advantage for the return leg in Kuching.”

Terengganu made their way into the FA Cup quarter-finals after defeating Immigration 4-2 on aggregate in the round of 16, with them winning 3-0 in the second leg fixture in Kuala Terengganu.

Their next two wins at home came in the Super League after beating Melaka 4-0 last month, and Kelantan 4-1 earlier this month.

The 21-year-old added that Kuching won’t be an easy opponent, as they have the services of several strong import players as well as local players.

“Kuching have quality players. We know that their import players are strong as well.

“They also have Ramadhan Saifullah, who is one of their main weapons, as he has speed and intelligence to find space.

“I hope the fans will come to the stadium and support us, and hopefully, we can achieve success together,” he said.

After the first leg match this weekend, Terengganu will travel to Sarawak to play the second leg fixture against Kuching at the Sarawak Stadium on Oct 28.
