PETALING JAYA: If there is one man capable of electrifying the Kuching City crowd, it is Ronald Ngah.
Whether through his goals or his animated celebrations, the Cats will be counting on the Cameroonian striker to deliver when they face Selangor in the Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg at the State Stadium tomorrow.
The tie remains finely balanced after both teams settled for a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Petaling Jaya on April 5.
With the return leg set in Kuching, the hosts will enjoy a significant boost from their home supporters. The club have confirmed a sell-out crowd, with about 30,000 fans expected to pack the stadium.
While expectations will be high across the squad, much will rest on Ngah’s shoulders.
The 34-year-old forward is expected not only to find the net but also to create space and opportunities for his teammates with his presence up front.
“Discipline, consistency, hard work and humility are what we must continue to show in our quest for dominance this season and to maintain our current momentum,” said Ngah.
“As long as the coach, Aidil Sharin, believes in me, I will repay that faith. He understands my strengths, and his positivity has resonated with me.
“Most importantly, we want to win it for the fans. With a sell-out crowd, only our best will do.
“We respect our opponents, but once we step onto the pitch, we will fight for every ball.”
Ngah has been in prolific form, scoring 21 goals in 29 matches across all competitions. In the Malaysia Cup alone, he has netted three times in five appearances, underlining his importance to the team’s attacking threat.
He has also proven his ability to deliver in crucial moments.
In the round of 16 against Penang, Kuching overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit with a 2-0 win at home, with Ngah sealing the win with the decisive second goal.
