PETALING JAYA: Selangor will take its appeal case regarding fan misconduct and hosting failures to the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC).
Following the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Appeal Committee’s rejection of the club’s appeal on Tuesday (Nov 25), Selangor issued a statement stating they would file an appeal to the AIAC in Kuala Lumpur in accordance with Article 77 and Article 29 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.
“For clarity, Article 77 of the FAM Disciplinary code expressly designates AIAC as the sole independent arbitral body recognised by FAM for such proceedings, and this excludes other arbitral bodies such as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS),” the club said in a statement on Friday (Nov 28).
“Selangor remains committed to upholding the integrity of the Club and ensuring the interests of its stakeholders are protected.”
The club said it had filed an appeal with the FAM Appeal Committee, along with irrefutable evidence against allegations involving their supporters at the Petaling Jaya Stadium during the FA Cup quarter-final match against Negri Sembilan on Oct 29.
The FAM Appeal Committee, however, rejected Selangor’s appeal and upheld the previous sanctions, which ordered the clubs to pay RM100,000 and serve a 2-match stadium ban, with the next 2 FA Cup matches played behind closed doors.
This would mean their semi-final clash against Sabah on Sunday (Nov 30), and the first home FA Cup match next season would have no fans in the stands.
