PETALING JAYA: Selangor supporters’ group Ultrasel have urged the club to take a stronger public stand on integrity issues affecting Malaysian football, as fan boycotts of league matches continue in several states.
In a memorandum submitted to Selangor’s management and later made public on social media, Ultrasel stressed that they were not asking the club to determine the citizenship status of any player, saying that was the responsibility of the relevant authorities.
Instead, the group want Selangor to speak up on issues that could affect the integrity and fairness of the competition.
“This memorandum is submitted to record our position and to urge the club’s management not to choose to remain silent when the integrity of Malaysian football is being questioned.
“We are not asking Selangor to take over the role of the government. We are also not asking the club to determine the citizenship of any player.
“We are asking for the club to demonstrate responsibility: to have a position, safeguard the integrity of the competition and speak up when the governing bodies fail to provide confidence.”
Ultrasel want Selangor to publicly reject document fraud and the manipulation of processes, avoid exploiting regulatory loopholes for sporting advantage, and seek clearer explanations from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and Malaysian Football League (MFL) whenever integrity concerns arise.
The group also referred to findings by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) concerning the naturalisation process involving seven players. The findings reportedly covered issues including entry permits, security screening, the Bahasa Malaysia proficiency test, verification of original nationality and passport documentation.
The EAIC are said to have recommended that the relevant government agencies review the matter.
