PETALING JAYA: Kuching City are banking on their high-riding striker Ronald Ngah to give Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) a fight in the FA Cup semi-final first leg tomorrow.
Coach Aidil Sharin is counting heavily on his experienced marksman to fend off against a team as dominant as JDT.
And the Nigerian hopes to live up to his coach’s trust.
“Discipline, consistency, hard work, and humility – those are what we need to keep doing,” said Ngah.
“That’s the only way to maintain our momentum and chase dominance this season.”
Ngah’s consistency has been the backbone of Kuching’s resurgence in the domestic scene this year.
The 34-year-old Cameroonian delivered a masterclass in finishing when he scored a hattrick in Kuching’s emphatic 5-0 win over Police in their Super League clash at the Selayang Stadium on Nov 1.
“It’s been a long time since I scored three goals, and I’m super excited it happened,” said Ngah.
“Once I scored the second, I knew the third was coming. Most importantly, we needed to bounce back because our last two home games were not up to the standard we set earlier in the season.”
And bounce back they did, largely thanks to Ngah’s lethal instincts in front of goal.
His combination of power, pace, and predatory positioning has made him one of the league’s most feared forwards.
Ngah has now notched seven goals and three assists in seven league matches, plus six goals in four FA Cup games, making him Kuching’s most productive player this season by a distance.
“The goals will keep coming because I won’t stop scoring,” he said confidently.
“Players like Ramadan (Saifullah) and Daniel (Asri) scoring too shows the firepower we have up front.
“We’ll keep pushing each other and hopefully end the season high up the table, breaking records along the way, like getting to the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time.”
