ALOR SETAR: The concerns of Kedah FC players and coaching staff about celebrating Aidilfitri will be somewhat eased following an initiative by three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that have launched a fund to assist them.
The NGOs – Rangkaian Anak Darul Aman Se-Malaysia (RADA), Anak Darul Aman (ADAM) and Pertubuhan Sukarelawan Rakyat Aman (SUARA) – took this step in solidarity with the team, who have reportedly not received salaries for nearly a year.
RADA chairman Datuk Romli Ishak said the fund which was launched yesterday, has racked up RM40,000. The funds will be distributed to Kedah players and coaching staff to help them prepare for Aidilfitri.
“This fund is established to ensure the players’ welfare remains protected, especially in welcoming Syawal.
“The contributions collected will be directly channelled to players and officials in need as a token of appreciation for their sacrifices in elevating the status of Kedah football,” he said.

Romli said after hearing first hand the grievances of some players and team officials during a recent meeting, RADA, ADAM and SUARA felt compelled to initiate the fundraising effort. — Bernama
