PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) coach Esteban Solari says the experience of playing high-quality clubs in their ongoing pre-season camp in Dubai will serve his charges well in the new Super League season.

In the first of their five-match friendly series, JDT were beaten 2-0 by Russian Premier League side Rostov on Tuesday.

The Southern Tigers will take on an Emirati club today before facing Bulgarian side Levski Sofia (Jan 31) and two more Russian outfits, Lokomotiv Moscow (Feb 2) and Zenit St Petersburg (Feb 6).

Solari said the loss to Rostov is a good lesson for the players and should motivate them to improve ahead of the new season.

‘’’That was what we expected against Rostov, a team currently third in Russia. A quality side that gave us a good lesson,’’ he said.

‘’But despite the loss, we had a good share of the possession and moved the ball well. Now we have to go back to the drawing board and work on our weaknesses before the season starts. Our goal here is to challenge ourselves against much stronger teams so that we keep improving.’’
