Elephants look to M&M's to add bite in Super League challenge

Pahang's Manuel Hidalgo in action during a match against Melaka in a recent Super League clash. - Bernama.

PETALING JAYA: M&M's are sweet multi-coloured button-shaped chocolates which is everyone's favourite snack.

Pahang also have their M&M's – not so sweet but plenty of bite – in wingers Manuel Hidalgo and Abdul Malik Mat Ariff.

Their telepathic performances, widely feared by rival defenders, have earned them the M&M's monicker and Pahang coach Dollah Salleh is licking his lips in anticipation of a goal feast against Petaling Jaya City at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan today.

Since the Super League resumed following the two-month Covid-19 pandemic enforced break on July 24, Pahang have drawn against Melaka (1-1) and Sabah (2-2).

And Dollah is hoping to get the two Ms to gel again.

"Manuel scored against Melaka and Malik scored against Sabah. They combine well in attack and that is providing the impetus in our game. I hope to see them get stronger and bring us more wins.

"The other setback now is the lapses in concentration. Against Melaka, we conceded the equaliser in the 96th minute and in the Sabah match we let in a goal in the 94th minute. We have to ratify this aspect of our game.

"Pahang are currently 10th in the standings with 14 points, just a point away from 11th placed Perak, who have 13 points. PJ City are seventh in the league with 18 points.
