Farisya, 15, pulls off a shocker

KUCHING: Debutant Nurul Farisya Alia Affendi spoiled the party for Federal Territories by pulling off an upset performance to claim the girls' platform individual gold medal for Sarawak at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre today.

FT had claimed two gold medals through Yong Rui Jie-Nurqayyum Nazmi Mohd Nazim in the boy's 3m springboard synchro event (335.35 points) and Nurqayyum again in the boy's 1m springboard individual (346.05 points).

Reigning SEA Games gold medallist Lee Yiat Qing was the hope to deliver another gold for FT but she had to settle for silver instead.

The FT diver was narrowly beaten to the gold medal after finishing with 241.10 points as 15-year-oild Farisya snatched the gold with 241.90 points.

National team diver Nur Eilisha Rania took the bronze for Sarawak with 231.45 points.

It is the sixth gold medal for the hosts after three days of diving competition.
