PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will continue setting medal targets based on gold rather than total medals after the strategy paid off at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with the same approach to be adopted for next month’s Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohd Taufiq Johari said the policy reflects the nation’s long-term ambition of producing athletes capable of winning at the highest level, including the Olympic Games.
