PETALING JAYA: Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill will meet up with national cycling technical director John Beasley to clear the air over some issues.

Amarjit, who returned from commitments abroad late yesterday, said he is hoping to meet Beasley over the next few days.

The Australian recently said he intends to step down from his position at the end of the year and may not see out his current contract, which ends on Jan 31 next year.

"Of course we want John to stay on with us and that would be great for Malaysia but ultimately, that is a decision that he has to make. We cannot force him,'' said Amarjit.

"I think the right thing for me to do is to meet personally with John to really understand the issue before making any further comments.

"I have already been in contact with John (via text) and hopefully I can see him over the next few days."

Beasley, who has guided Malaysia for two decades, made it clear that he is fed up with dealing with politics, red tape and lack of grassroots infrastructure within Malaysian cycling and is weighing his options.

Beasley has served as the track cycling head coach since 2006 and became the technical director last year.
