PETALING JAYA: National track cycling icon Azizulhasni Awang has added another accolade to his decorated career after being recognised in The BrandLaureate ‘Book of World Records’.

Known as the ‘Pocket Rocketman’, Azizul received the honour just days after striking gold in the keirin and taking bronze in the individual sprint at the Track World Cup in Nilai.

The award was presented at a leading hotel here on Thursday, in recognition of the Terengganu-born rider’s outstanding achievements and global impact on the sport.

Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said the recognition has placed Azizul among an elite group of athletes with exceptional accomplishments.

"MNCF would like to congratulate Azizul on receiving the award. We deeply value this achievement," said Amarjit in a statement.

The recognition adds to Azizul's growing list of accolades, having also received the 'Sport Icon Awards' in 2024.

Among other notable recipients of the 'Book of World Records' honour are Malaysian squash great Datuk Nicol David; footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and South Korea's Lee Dong-gook; shuttler Lee Zii Jia, martial art's Johan Ghazali and para athlete Datuk Abdul Latif Romly.

MNCF also received a special award for their role in promoting cycling and elevating Malaysia's standing on the global sporting map.
