PETALING JAYA: Independent men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia’s hopes of making a deep run at the Vietnam Open were cut short after he was beaten by Taiwan’s Wu Zhe-ying on Wednesday (Sept 9).
Zii Jia, who received a bye in the first round, struggled for consistency against the world No. 88 in their second-round clash at the Nguyen Du Gymnasium in Ho Chi Minh City.
After dropping the opening game heavily, Zii Jia fought back to force a decider but could not complete the comeback, losing 8-21, 21-13, 14-21 in 47 minutes.
