PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Eogene Ewe advanced to the second round of the Korean Masters, but only at the expense of fellow Malaysian Lee Zii Jia on Wednesday (Aug 5).
Playing at the Asan Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium, the world No. 75 dominated the opening game before holding off a late fightback from Zii Jia in the second game to seal a 21-9, 21-19 victory in just 28 minutes.
Eogene will next face either Thailand's Kantaphon Wangcharoen or seventh seed Su Li-yang of Taiwan for a place in the quarter-finals.
