Pearly-Thinaah clear first China Open hurdle


PETALING JAYA: Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah cruised into the second round of the China Open after defeating Japan's Ririna Hiramoto-Kokona Ishikawa on Wednesday (July 22).

Playing at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Centre, the Malaysians needed just 31 minutes to beat the world No. 29 pair 21-16, 21-12.

Pearly-Thinaah will next face either another Japanese pair, Rui Hirokami-Sayaka Hobara, or Ukraine's Polina Buhrova-Yevheniia Kantemyr, for a place in the quarter-finals.
