Wooi Yik-Wei Chong's partnership starts with defeat at Japan Open


PETALING JAYA: Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong's first outing together got off to a disappointing start after they were knocked out in the first round of the Japan Open.

Playing at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Wednesday (July 15), Wooi Yik-Wei Chong struggled against Taiwan's world No. 18 Lee Fang-jen-Lee Fang-chih before going down 23-21, 17-21, 16-21 in 62 minutes.

Wooi Yik-Wei Chong will next head to Changzhou for their second tournament together at the China Open, which begins next Tuesday (July 21).
