PETALING JAYA: Could changes be on the cards for the coaching set-up of the independent doubles squad based in Sri Petaling?

Head coach Teo Kok Siang remained tight-lipped when asked whether a new coach would be brought in to work with world No. 7 pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani.

"I have no comment. Just wait and see," said Kok Siang when met after the independent squad's training session on Thursday (June 25).

His response also raised speculation that he may no longer be coaching Sze Fei-Izzuddin.

Kok Siang joined the independent set-up as head coach in January 2023, replacing Rosman Razak, who returned to the national team.

He is currently assisted by Ameer Amri Zainuddin and physiotherapist Aela Syamira Jamaal Shaaban.

The Sri Petaling camp is also home to several other independent pairs.

Besides Sze Fei-Izzuddin, the group also includes mixed doubles pairs Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie and Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing, as well as men's doubles pairs Teo Ee Yi-Chia Wei Jie, Low Han Yee-Ng Eng Cheong, Lwi Sheng Hao-Boon Xin Yuan and Goh V Shem.

The players are currently preparing for the Japan Open, which will be held from July 14-19.
