PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Eogene Ewe continued his impressive run at the Macau Open after stunning second seed Jason Teh of Singapore to reach the semi-finals on Friday (June 19).
In the quarter-finals at the Macau East Asian Games Dome, Eogene showed no signs of intimidation against the world No. 31, cruising to a 21-9, 21-19 victory in just 39 minutes.
The victory was Eogene's first over Jason after losing their previous two meetings.
He will next face China's Hu Zhean in the semi-finals on Saturday (June 20).
Meanwhile, in the men's doubles, Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong also caused an upset by defeating fellow Malaysians and top seeds Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong 14-21, 21-11, 24-22 to reach the last four.
They will next take on Indonesia's fourth seeds, Ali Faathir-Devin Artha.
Chia Wei Jie-Teo Ee Yi also progressed to the semi-finals after overcoming Taiwan's Wei Chun-wei-Yang Po-chih 22-20, 18-21, 21-13 and will next face South Korea's Jin Yong-Lee Jong-min.
In the women's doubles, Carmen Ting-Ong Xin Yee joined them in the semi-finals after defeating South Korea's Kim Hye-jeong-Moon In-seo 21-14, 21-16.
They will next meet China's Bao Lijing-Cao Zihan.
