Unlucky as Zii Jia and Co face China in Thomas Cup quarters

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia face daunting task after being drawn against 11-time champions and defending Thomas Cup holders China in the quarter-finals in Horsens, Denmark.

The draw on Thursday (April 30) saw Malaysia, who advanced as Group B runners-up, set up a clash with China in a repeat of the last edition’s semi-finals in Chengdu, where they lost 3-1.

Malaysia have only won three times out of their 11 meetings against China in the history of the Thomas Cup.

If they win, they will face the winners of the tie between Group D winners Thailand and hosts Denmark.

France, who are strong in the singles, will face Japan while India, the 2022 champions, will meet Taiwan.

All matches will be played on Friday (May 1).
