Aaron–Wooi Yik through to last eight in title defence bid

PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik kept their Asian Championships title defence on track after advancing to the quarter-finals on Thursday (April 9).

In their second-round match at the Ningbo Olympic Center, Aaron–Wooi Yik made a slow start against China’s Hua Keyuan–Lin Xiangyi but recovered well to take the first game.

They eventually secured a 22–20, 21–19 win to eliminate the young Chinese pair and will next face either South Korea’s Kang Min-hyuk–Ki Dong-ju or Japan’s former world champions Takuro Hoki–Yugo Kobayashi.
