Youngster Pei Kee set to end stint with national body

PETALING JAYA: It looks like women’s doubles player Go Pei Kee may be moving on from the national set-up.

Pei Kee was reported to have made a surprise exit from the national set-up, a move seemingly reinforced by a video she posted on her social media on Wednesday, which chronicled her journey as a national player.

The video ended with her packing up her personal belongings at the Academy Badminton Malaysia hostel in Bukit Kiara and bidding farewell.

Pei Kee grabbed attention this week after expressing her intention to part ways with her partner, Teoh Mei Xing, following a 19-month partnership.

The announcement caused some tension, as Mei Xing only learned about it when informed by the coaching staff.

Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky said there was still no official confirmation of her resignation from the squad.

“There is nothing official yet as there has been no confirmation. I do not want to say too much because there is still no final decision.

“Officially, there is nothing yet. No letter has been submitted,” said Rexy.

Rexy added that BAM would meet Pei Kee personally to get a clearer picture of the matter.

“Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei will meet her (Pei Kee), because people can say anything on social media,” he added.
