Seung-jae-Won-ho pull out of Indian Open

PETALING JAYA: South Korea’s Malaysian Open champions Seo Seung-jae-Kim Won-ho have withdrawn from the Indian Open.

The world No. 1 and reigning men's doubles world champions conceded a walkover in their first round match against Taiwan’s He Zhi-wei-Huang Jui-hsuan on Wednesday (Jan 14).

Seung-jae-Won-ho broke Malaysian hearts after beating world No. 2 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik 21-15, 12-21, 21-18 in a thrilling home Open final at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on Sunday (Jan 11).

The Koreans have been in red-hot form, capturing 12 titles together since combining in January last year.

Seung-jae-Won-ho finished as runners-up to Malaysians Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in the Indian tourney last year.

The pair’s withdrawal has thrown the competition wide open.
