PETALING JAYA: National squash player S. Sivasangari's hope for a winning start to the year was dashed by Egypt’s Amina Orfi in the Karachi Open final on Sunday (Jan 11).

Second seed Sivasangari was overpowered by top seed Orfi, who won 11-8, 11-2, 11-7 in 38 minutes at the DA Creek Club in Karachi, Pakistan.

It was Orfi's first gold-level tournament of the year.

It was also the Egyptian's seventh win over Sivasangari out of eight previous meetings, and the 18-year-old third title this season after also having won the Canadian Women’s Open last October and the China Open the following month.
