Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei reach Australian Open mixed doubles final

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei have moved a step closer to lifting the Australian Open crown.

They stormed into the final after beating Thailand’s Sapsiree Taerattanachai and Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 21-16, 21-14 in 50 minutes on Saturday (Nov 22).

Tang Jie and Ee Wei reached their third final of the year after winning the world title in August.

They were also runners up at the China Masters in September.

The world No. 4 pair and top seeds will face either Indonesia’s Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Pasaribu or Thailand’s Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat.

Tang Jie and Ee Wei are chasing their first World Tour title of the year.

Malaysia’s men’s doubles challenge ended after world No. 4 Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani lost 15-21, 15-21 to Indonesia’s Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin.
