Haikal-Hon Jian bow out of Arctic Open

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Mohd Haikal Nazri-Choong Hon Jian's good run in the Arctic Open came to a heartbreaking end after they narrowly went down to England's world No. 15 Ben Lane-Sean Vendy in the last four.

World No. 47 Haikal-Hon Jian fought hard, but it was not enough as they lost 16-21, 23-25 in 47 minutes in Finland on Saturday (Oct 11).

Despite the defeat, Haikal-Hon Jian can hold their heads high after a fine run in the tourney.

The pair stunned Denmark's world No. 4 Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the last eight.

It was also Haikal-Hon Jian's second semi-final finish this year after making it into the same stage in the Macau Open in July.
