PETALING JAYA: Para shuttler Cheah Liek Hou is willing to settle his dispute with the Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) in an amicable way.

Liek Hou is open to discussing with PCM and come up with a positive resolution for both parties as he wants to put the issue behind and focus on his training and competitions.

PCM had threatened to ban Liek Hou from competitions after he called out the organisation via social media for not giving him a RM60,000 incentive as promised.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, though, intervened on Liek Hou’s behalf and assured that he won’t be suspended.

PCM, however, still want an explanation over his words on social media and he wants the issue solved quickly.

Liek Hou received another RM35,000 from Johor-based property developer Faire Development a day after taking home the same amount from 99 Speedmart.

The 37-year-old was thankful for the incentive and the support he received.

“I am open to discussions with PCM. If PCM invite me to talk and make peace, I will always welcome it. I also want to focus on my training. I want this issue resolved as soon as possible,” said Liek Hou.

“I just want to do what I have to do. I want this issue settled quickly because I need to focus on my training and tournaments. I am grateful to Faire Development, as they were the first organisation to support me after the reward issue went viral,” said Liek Hou.

Meanwhile, on what was a great day for Liek Hou, custom cabinetry specialist Unity Kitchen also announced the renewal of its endorsement partnership with him, extending its support with RM60,000 to encourage his continued efforts and achievements on the international stage.

Liek Hou’s perseverance and patriotic spirit have deeply inspired us,” said Unity Kitchen’s chief executive officer Erny Looi.

“Through his sweat and determination, he has brought world-class recognition to Malaysia.

“As a homegrown brand, Unity Kitchen feels a strong responsibility to continuously support national heroes like him. By renewing this endorsement partnership, we hope to inspire more young Malaysians to courageously pursue their dreams and bring greater glory to the nation,” added Erny.
