Aaron-Wooi Yik hit back against English pair to keep flag flying

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik made it into the China Masters quarter-finals after a narrow win over England's Ben Lane-Sean Vendy.

Aaron-Wooi Yik were made to sweat by world No. 14 Lane-Vendy but managed to hold their nerves to prevail 14-21, 21-15, 25-23 in a gripping 72-minute second round match at the Shenzhen Arena on Thursday (Sept 18).

The world No. 2 pair avenged their defeat to the English duo in the Hong Kong Open first round last week.

Aaron-Wooi Yik will next play the winners of the match between teammates Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Indonesia's Leo Rolly-Bagas Maulana.

Leong Jun Hao and Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin though went down to Chinese opponents in the men's singles and mixed doubles respectively. 

Jun Hao lost out 11-21, 21-19, 8-21 to Li Shifeng while Pang Ron-Su Yin were beaten 21-16, 7-21, 10-21 by Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping.
