Jun Hao beats Anthony to reach China Masters second round

PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao pulled off an impressive win over Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting to reach the China Masters second round.

Jun Hao fought hard to come out on top 21-19, 5-21, 21-10 over Anthony in 54 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena on Wednesday (Sept 17).

The world No. 22 has a more difficult task next against world No. 4 home star Li Shifeng.

Pang Ron-Su Yin though, face a tough test next against home favourites and world No. 1 Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping.

It was the end of the road for men’s doubles pairs Yap Roy King-Wan Arif Wan Junaidi and Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi.

Roy King-Arif went down 22-24, 13-21 to India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty while Yew Sin-Ee Yi lost 10-21, 7-21 to Taiwan’s Wang Chi-lin-Chiu Hsiang-chieh.
