PETALING JAYA: World No. 1 men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani (pic) have pledged their commitment to the Road to Gold (RTG) programme for the 2025 cycle, alongside mixed doubles duo Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh shared the news, adding that the shuttlers will be receiving extensive support for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“These four shuttlers will now receive extensive performance-related support as they aim to not only qualify for the 2028 Olympics, but also create history for Malaysia in Los Angeles.

“RTG has always supported athletes who fulfil the programme’s criteria and we hope this additional support will spur them in their pursuit of excellence this year,” she said in a statement on Thursday (June 19).

The two pairs will be joining other fellow shuttlers in the programme, including world No. 2 men’s doubles duo Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, and mixed doubles duo Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei.

The other five athletes in the RTG programme are weightlifter Mohd Aniq Kasdan, track cyclist Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom and Nurul Izzah Izzati Asri, and squash player S. Sivasangari.
