Star team shine in Haier One Badminton media meet with second spot

PETALING JAYA: The Star team emerged as the runners-up in the Haier One Badminton Media Badminton Team Tournament at the Megah Rise Badminton Hall, Petaling Jaya on Saturday.

The team consists of Gan Fock Yong, Jason Chua Kheng How, Brandon Lee Hou Syuen, Kamarul Ariffin Hassan, Chen Soon Ling, ⁠Hong Li Ying and Lai Sook Yee lost to Senheng Malaysia in the final.

China Press A team took the third spot after defeating The Star's 988 Radio team (Stephany Yu Sook Theng, Leon Lo Swee Onn, Ivan Teh Kee Guan, Low Li On, Chan Ee Kiat, Yu Kevin, Lee Jun Yen).

Total prize money of RM5,000 was offered and it attracted 12 teams.

The event is organized by Ampang Jaya Badminton Club, with the Chinese Media Club as a co-organizer.

The sponsors for the tournament include Haier, Maxx, Sinheng and Ampang Jaya Badminton Club and One Badminton and Chinese Media Club.

Ho Khek Mong, the person in charge of Ampang Jaya BC said: "Ampang Jaya Badminton Club and One Badminton have always been committed to promoting badminton. Our youth and elite teams have achieved commendable results in international tournaments. Hosting this media badminton tournament is our way of giving back to the media for their support and fostering stronger connections."
