PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing had to settle for second best again in the Thailand International Series.

A week after finishing runners-up in the Vietnam International Challenge, Jimmy and the 32-year-old Pei Jing's hopes of winning their first title together were dashed after they went down 17-21, 16-21 to China's upcoming pair Gao Jiaxuan-Wu Mengying in Phuket on Sunday (April 6).

Despite the defeat, the independent pair can still be satisfied with their promising start after only combining together last month.

The 22-year-old Jimmy previously played in the men's doubles with Lwi Sheng Hao before switching to mixed doubles.
