Danish pair deny Sze Fei-Izzuddin in Malaysian Masters final

PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani missed out on a second title this year after going down in the Malaysian Masters final on Sunday (May 24).

In the final at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil, the third seeds lost 16-21, 17-21 to Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard in 41 minutes.

"I think the opponent played very well today. They really gave us pressure from the start of the game until the end," said Sze Fei in a post-match interview.

The defeat also saw Sze Fei-Izzuddin fall short in the Malaysian Masters final once again after suffering the same fate in the 2017 edition against Indonesia’s Berry Angriawan-Hardianto.

So far, Sze Fei-Izzuddin’s only title this year came at the Indonesian Masters in January.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin will next compete in the Singapore Open, which begins on Tuesday, where they will face another Danish pair, Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, in the opening round.
