PETALING JAYA: New mixed doubles pair Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing smashed into the final in their maiden outing together in the Vietnam International Challenge.

The 32-year-old Pei Jing, who combined with Jimmy, 22, following her previous partner Tan Kian Meng's retirement earlier this month, stayed steady to beat fellow Malaysians Wee Yee Hern-Chan Wen Tse 21-19, 21-7 in Hanoi on Saturday (March 29).

The independent pair will take on Hong Kong's Tang Chun Man-Ng Tsz Yau on Sunday (March 30) for the title.

Meanwhile, in the men's singles, Jacky Kok also reached the final after beating Taiwan's Wang Po-wei 21-14, 21-13.

World No. 86 Jacky has a good opportunity to win his first title since the 2022 Swedish Open when he faces Thailand's Purirat Arree (No. 204) in the final.
