Pang Ron-Su Yin withdraw unexpectedly from Orleans Masters quarter-finals

KUALA LUMPUR: The Orleans Masters quarter-finals were expected to provide Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin with an opportunity to avenge the early exit of their compatriots Cheng Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei. However, the outcome took an unexpected turn.

Without any official explanation, sixth-seeded Pang Ron-Su Yin withdrew from their scheduled match against Indonesia’s Rehan Kusharjanto-Gloria Widjaja.

The sudden withdrawal handed a walkover victory to the world No. 173 pair, who had earlier eliminated Tang Jie-Ee Wei in the second round.

Meanwhile, women’s doubles duo Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah struggled to keep up with China’s Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian.

Despite being the tournament’s second seeds, Pearly-Thinaah found the challenge too steep against Yifan, a four-time world champion with Chen Qingchen.

Although Yifan had only recently partnered with Shuxian, they had little trouble dispatching Pearly-Thinaah with a 21-15, 21-19 victory in just 40 minutes
