Smashing show as juniors Aaron-Kang and Dania-Low assure bronze in worlds

PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing stayed on course to win the boys' doubles title in the World Junior Championships after storming into the semi-finals.

Top seeds Aaron-Khai Xing, who won silver in the Asian Junior meet in July overcame a strong challenge from Indonesia's Dexter Farrell-Wahyu Agung in the first game to come away with a 23-21, 21-7 victory in Nanchang, China on Friday (Oct 11).

The Malaysians will take on China's fourth seeds Chen Yongrui-Chen Zhehan next for a place in the final.Both pairs are evenly matched based on the head-to-head records as both have won once against each other.

Aaron-Khai Xing beat Yongrui-Zhehan in the Dutch Junior International but the latter gained revenge by coming out on top in the German Junior in March.

Meanwhile, Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu also assured themselves at least a bronze after upstaging teammates Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting 21-11, 21-16 in the girls' doubles.

Dania-Zi Yu have a tough task next against China's top seeds Chen Fan Shutian-Liu Jiayue.
