Aaron and Wooi Yik will miss the back-to-back Japan and Korean Opens owing to injury.

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik will miss the back-to-back Japan Open (Aug 20-25) and Korean Open (Aug 27-Sept 1) after the latter picked up an injury en route to capturing bronze in the Paris Olympics.

"I picked up a slight injury in the semi-finals in Paris (against China's Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang)," Wooi Yik told a post-Olympics press conference at Akademi Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara on Tuesday (Aug 13).

"After discussions with the medical team and our coaches, we decided to skip the Japan and Korean Opens and recover fully first."

The world No. 3 pair could make a return in the Hong Kong Open from Sept 10-15.
