Misbun to take up coaching role in Thailand national setup

KUALA LUMPUR: The signs are pointing north for Datuk Misbun Sidek as he prepares to resume his coaching career in Thailand.

After leaving the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as the national junior coaching director in August, Misbun said he is currently in a trial phase to take up a coaching role in the Thai national squad.

The 63-year-old said the Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) have given him full confidence to raise the level of badminton in the country.

"I truly appreciate the offer but what matters now is whether I can deliver results. It is a challenge, which is why I have accepted the offer," said Misbun.

He did not reveal his role in the squad but said the stint is merely a "testing round" to adjust to the national setup.

"I haven't made a final decision. Right now I am getting to know the badminton culture in Thailand," he said.
