Independent men's shuttler Daren decides to hang up his racket

PETALING JAYA: Independent men's singles shuttler Liew Daren has announced his retirement from the sport.

The 35-year-old has been battling injuries for the past year and has made the decision to call it a day.

Daren did not elaborate on his decision as he wants to focus on his role as coach for world No. 4 Lee Zii Jia for now.

Daren is currently coaching Zii Jia in the Asian Championships in Dubai.

"I can confirm that I have retired. For now, I have no further comments as I'm currently in Dubai," he said.
