PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik stormed into the World Championships final in New Delhi after knocking out defending champions and world No. 1 Kim Won-ho-Seo Seung-jae in the semi-finals on Saturday (Aug 22).

Aaron-Wooi Yik continued their impressive run with a 21-17, 21-18 victory over the Korean pair, avenging their defeats in two finals earlier this year, at the Malaysian Open in January and the All-England two months later.

The win gives Aaron-Wooi Yik another shot at the world title, four years after they made history by becoming Malaysia’s first badminton world champions at the 2022 edition in Tokyo.

They will face either China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang or Taiwan’s Lee Jhe-huei-Yang Po-hsuan in the final on Sunday (Aug 23).
