Pearly-Thinaah reach French Open finals

PETALING JAYA: National No. 1 women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah continued their dream run in the French Open by booking their spot in the final on Saturday (Oct 29).

World No. 11 Pearly-Thinaah overcame South Korea's recent Denmark Open runners-up Baek Ha-na-Lee So-hee 21-13, 21-17 in the semi-final in Paris.

This will set them up for a meeting against Japan's world No. 7 and two-time world champions Mayu Matsumoto-Wakana Nagahara in the final on Sunday (Oct 30)

This will be the Malaysian pair's first World Tour final of the year.

Doubles coach Hoon Thien How was happy with his charges and wants them to maintain their good form in the final.

"Just like for the quarter-final, they prepared very well for the match against the Koreans and this helped them to win. In the final tomorrow, I don't want them to think too much but go out there and play their best," said Thien How.

Pearly-Thinaah will be out to capture their second World Tour title after winning the Swiss Open in March last year.
